X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the X-Men. Produced by 20th Century Fox and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the seventh installment of the X-Men film series and the sequel to both X-Men: First Class (2011) and The Wolverine (2013). Directed by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg, the film stars an ensemble cast, including Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Elliot Page, Peter Dinklage, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart.

In a dystopian 2023, robot Sentinels hunt down and kill mutants and all humans who either possess the genetic potential to have mutant offspring or try to protect them. In Moscow, they attack a small band of X-Men survivors consisting of Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat (Ellen Page), Piotr Rasputin/Colossus (Daniel Cudmore), Clarice Ferguson/Blink (Fan Bingbing), James Proudstar/Warpath (Booboo Stewart), Lucas Bishop (Omar Sy), Bobby Drake/Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), and Roberto Da Costa/Sunspot (Adan Canto). Kitty is able to use her phasing ability to send Logan's mind back in time to 1973, where he must convince Charles Xavier/Professor X (James McAvoy) to prevent the assassination of Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), the scientist who created the Sentinels.
Logan finds Charles in a wheelchair and addicted to drugs, following the apparent death of Raven Darkholme/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) at the hands of Trask's soldiers. He convinces Charles to help him find and stop Mystique from assassinating Trask, but they are unsuccessful. Mystique is captured and taken to the Pentagon, where Charles and Logan go to rescue her. They are joined by Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto (Michael Fassbender), who has been imprisoned in the Pentagon since the events of X-Men: First Class.
With the help of Charles, Erik, and Kitty, Logan is able to stop Mystique from assassinating Trask. This changes the future, and when Logan wakes up back in 2023, he finds himself in a world where the Sentinels have never been created.
X-Men: Days of Future Past was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $746 million worldwide. It was praised for its action sequences, special effects, and performances, particularly those of Jackman, McAvoy, Fassbender, and Lawrence. The film was also notable for its ambitious scope, as it successfully combined two different time periods and casts of characters.
