Logan is a 2017 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero character of the same name. It is the tenth film in the X-Men film series and the third and final installment in the Wolverine trilogy following X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and The Wolverine (2013). The film is loosely based on the "Old Man Logan" comics storyline by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.
In the year 2029, mutants are nearly extinct, and an aging Logan is struggling to cope with his declining healing factor. He now works as a limousine driver in El Paso, Texas, and cares for Charles Xavier, who is now in his 90s and suffering from dementia.
One day, Logan is approached by a woman named Gabriela, who asks him to drive her and her daughter, Laura, to North Dakota. Laura is a young mutant with similar powers to Logan, and she is being pursued by a group of cyborg mercenaries known as the Reavers.
Logan is initially reluctant to help Gabriela and Laura, but he eventually agrees. The three of them embark on a road trip across the American Southwest, pursued by the Reavers. Along the way, Logan and Laura form a close bond, and Logan begins to see himself in her.
Eventually, Logan, Gabriela, and Laura reach North Dakota, where they meet with a group of mutants who are preparing to escape to Canada, where mutants are said to be safe. However, the Reavers arrive and attack the group.
In the ensuing battle, Gabriela is killed, and Logan is badly injured. Laura uses her powers to defeat the Reavers, but she is also seriously wounded. Logan injects himself with a serum that temporarily restores his healing factor, and he uses his remaining strength to protect Laura and the other mutants as they escape to Canada.
Logan dies in Laura's arms, but she promises to carry on his legacy. She and the other mutants cross the border into Canada, where they are finally safe.
Logan is a dark and gritty film that explores themes of mortality, family, and redemption. It is a fitting conclusion to Hugh Jackman's time as Wolverine, and it is considered to be one of the best superhero films ever made.
